TWO men appeared in court today charged in connection with anti-terror raids in Bolton.

Omar Altimimi, aged 36, of Lansdowne Road, Tonge Moor, has been charged with four offences under the Terrorism Act 2000, which relate to possessing articles and collecting information which could be used to aid terrorism. He has also been charged with one offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.

Yusuf Abdullah, aged 29, of no fixed address, has been charged with one offence under the Proceeds of Crime Act, and one offence under the Theft Act 1968.

Both men appeared at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court in London. Their case has been adjourned until August 17 when it is expected to be committed to crown court.

Police in Bolton arrested the men following raids on eight properties at Lansdowne Road, Bradford Avenue, Great Lever, and other addresses in Halliwell and Astley Bridge on Tuesday, June 27.
