MIKE WROE now living in Brittany, France, had been researching the Shelmerdine family.
He says: ! was amazed to find on the Bolton Council website "boltonmayors.org.uk" details of Richard Shelmerdine and of his son Arthur.
They were Chairmen of Turton UDC in 1942-43 and 1953-54 respectively.
I am fairly certain that my three times great-grandfather Joseph Shelmerdine (b. 1824) and their three great-grandfather John Shelmerdine (b. 1822, were brothers.
Would any kind reader know what happened to Richard and Arthur plus families after the 1950s?
Did Richard die aged 80 in 1955 in Conway, North Wales?
Any help would be much appreciated.
