FABRICE Muamba bounced back from the disappointment of being dropped to the bench to be one of Wanderers’ goal heroes against Blackburn.
The rugged midfielder had been dropped from the team beaten 1-0 at Manchester City the previous week but arrived off the bench to shore up a midfield that had lost Mark Davies, sent off for a second bookable offence.
Few will have had the England Under-21 star down for first goalscorer, but the youngster was quick to acknowledge the role of captain Kevin Davies in the goal.
“I had no-one marking me at the time, so when the skipper laid the ball off, I took an extra touch and managed to get it in the back of the net,” he said.
“They had two or three people all marking Davo, so I utilised that.
“It was great because we were down to 10 men. It’s my second goal for Bolton, so I’m really happy about that.
“The one I scored last year got a lucky deflection, but this time I got it cleanly.
“I’m not bothered how they go in, I’m just happy we got the result in the end.
“You can see by the reaction of the fans that it was a great result.”
