A SCHOOL which has the motto that it strives to teach its children to be the best they can is celebrating success.

Johnson Fold Primary School made a massive leap in the achievements of children in their key stage two results.

In 2009 only 48 per cent of children achieved the required standard in English and maths.

This year that figure jumped to 76 per cent, above the national average.

Headteacher Ruth Dean said she was “absolutely delighted”

with the results.

She added: “We are delighted with the pupils’ outstanding achievements.

“The school motto is be the best you can and the children are doing that.

“This school is lucky to have such committed staff who work hard and ensure the children progress.”

The school’s headline results show80 per cent of children achieving level four or above in English and 80 per cent achieving that standard. Last year they were 50 per cent and 58 per cent.
