IT sums up just how well the Whites are doing when I can honestly say I have not once given any thought to the January transfer window.

It is usually this time of year when fans start talking about who to sign and who to sell.

But this group of players are doing so well, I don’t think there is any real urgency to tinker too much.

Obviously we have lost Chung-Yong Lee to the Asia Cup and he will be badly missed and, with such a small squad, the manager might want to bring in a bit of cover.

But we will have to wait and see what happens.

I know there are a few vultures having a look at our players, but nobody should want to leave a club in our position now.

I am sure any departures would happen in the summer, when the manager will be able to assess which direction he is taking and make sure he gets the best price for his players.

There is certainly a real togetherness in the camp – as can be seen from the way the team battled to victory against West Brom.

It was a great result and, while it was not the best performance of the season, the lads got their rewards for sticking together.

We scored two good goals and Jussi was there when he was needed - it was fantastic for him to get a clean sheet. That will breed even more confidence in the team.

I was pleased for Matty Taylor, he has not been sulking while he was out of the team – he just got on with it and has taken his chance when it came. He is not big-headed and he knows he has a key part to play in the squad.

The fans played their part and I am sure they would have been delighted with this league position before a ball was kicked at the beginning of the season.

They are enjoying watching this type of football and I know the manager appreciates the supporters – he always goes and claps them at the end of every game.

It is a great club to be involved with at the moment and there is a real buzz about the place. Let’s hope it continues well into the new year.

Happy New Year to all the club’s supporters.

IT was a really nice touch when the lads paid tribute to Avi Cohen on Boxing Day.

Tamir’s dad is in a serious condition in hospital in Israel after a motorcycle accident and everyone’s thoughts are with the Cohen family.

I was really gutted on a personal level when I heard the sad news.

I was a young kid at Liverpool when Avi was playing there and he helped me so much with my career and I also spoke to him at the start of the season when he came down to the club.

He is a fantastic man and we are all hoping for a full recovery.

The way the players rallied around with the shirt tribute sums up what this club is about.

Once you are accepted within this club, you are part of it for life.

Every day of the week I pinch myself because I cannot believe how lucky I am to be here and I always tell people that this is the best football club in the country once you are immersed in it.

IT was fantastic to see Andy Walker and Owen Coyle reunited at the Reebok on Sunday.

Andy was doing some commentary for television and he was delighted to link up with his old mate Coyley.

I was there, too, and the jokes were flowing.

The two jocks hammered me with their banter and I am just glad that John McGinlay wasn’t there because those three were full of wise cracks when they got together.

The fans that bumped into Andy on his way into the ground treated him like a god – and I am not surprised when you look at his goalscoring record.

Stelios was there too and it is always nice to see old faces. They are still a part of this club and are always welcomed back with open arms.
