A TRIBUTE is being held to a popular Bolton dart’s player.
Frank Smith was the manager of Lancashire Darts team for 30 years.
He found out in September he had lung and liver cancer, and died 19 days later at Bolton Hospice.
Mr Smith, who was known locally as “Smudge” spent his career as a landlord in local pubs and clubs, including Halliwell Central Reform Club, which was later named The Roundhouse for 23 years, before taking over the Howcroft Inn.
His partner, Jane McDonald, is now holding an event at The Roundhouse, in Pool Street, Bolton, so people can come and pay tribute to Frank, who was known among his darts his friends as “Mr Lancashire”.
There will be a day of entertainment, with a darts competition, in which current members of Lancashire Darts Team will be playing the legends who used to play for them. The darts will start at 2.30 with doors opening at 12pm on Saturday.
All money raised will go towards Bolton Hospice.
There will be a raffle and tombola with local firms donating prizes.
There have been donations from Fancy That, in Chorley Old Road, of a free costume hire worth £25.
There is also a voucher donation from Bossy Boots children’s wear, a cut and blow at Ocean Hairdressing and a signed Lewis Hamilton book from Quick Cash pawnbrokers.
