RADCLIFFE Borough entertain their Evo-Stik Division One North rivals Mossley with the Stainton Park club on the verge of changing owners.

Boro president and major shareholder Bernard Manning is currently negotiating a deal to sell the club after it emerged he had no money to pay his players in December.

Gerry Luczka’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways after a festive programme which included a 2-1 home defeat to title-chasing Chorley and a spirited 2-2 draw at Skelmersdale United on Monday.

Both matches followed a three-game winning run for the Stainton Park side.

Bottom club Leigh Genesis travel to Garforth Town looking to complete a league double.

Genesis won the home fixture against the Leeds-based outfit 1-0 in September, but that is one of only two league wins they have recorded this season and they cross the Pennines five points adrift of second-bottom Ossett Albion.

Manager Alan Kershaw, who has recruited veteran goalkeeper Phil Priestley to take on the dual role of coach and back-up to regular number one Adam Judge, was not too disheartened after Monday’s 1-0 home defeat by Wakefield when he was without the services of key players Andy Heald and Nick Eastham.

“It was a disappointing result as we had a lot of the ball and played some very good football, especially in the second half,” Kershaw said.

Atherton LR are due to make a belated start to the new year when they take on Colne in the Vodkat NW Counties Premier League at Crilly Park.

Mid-table LR, who have not played competitively since a 2-1 home win against Ashton Athletic on November 23, were due to play the return fixture on Monday but the match was postponed because of burst pipes at the Latics ground.

Atherton Collieries, who moved up to seventh in the First Division when they won 4-0 away to rivals Daisy Hill on Monday, will fancy their chances of another three-point haul when they host bottom-of-the-table Rochdale Town at Alder House.

Daisy Hill will look for a better performance when they take on fourth-placed Wigan Robin Park at New Sirs. Craig Thomas’s side are just two points above Rochdale.
