COMMUNITY charities in Bolton are set to benefit from former Manchester United star Gary Neville’s testimonial game next month.

Mr Neville, aged 36, who retired in February, is expected to lead United out at Old Trafford for his final time against Italian giants Juventus on May 24. He has pledged to use the money raised by the match for community projects and supporter initiatives in the UK and abroad.

Mr Neville, pictured, said: “It is going to be a very emotional night for me, especially as I pull on that red shirt once more in what will be my last game for the club. I intend to savour every moment and I hope the fans can share in my special night.’’ United boss Sir Alex Ferguson praised the former England right-back, who spent his entire career with the Reds, making more than 600 appearances. He said: “This is a fitting tribute to honour Gary. It also gives the fans the opportunity to show their admiration for a player who is very much one of them.”
