So here's the " money shot".....we made it, though Uncle Jim wasn't sure if it was the New York mileage or the John O' Groats mileage that had been completed!

It's amazing how on tired legs, we managed to hit our best average mph on the last - like a mad rush to make sure we got there before Lands End closed. All were up and almost on time and though we planned a 7am wheel turn to make sure we hit a 12 noon ride in, such was the enthusiasm that despite a 7.30am get away, we caught the time up.

But this was no easy day! We dealt with hill after hill until we were some 3 miles from the finishing line, and we had some face head wind and rain to deal with too. But we got to our agreed rendevouz, removed the wet weather attire, and rode majestically through Senna ( which claims the "first and last" everything it can. And then into Lands End, where we lined up at the start/finish line for photos, and then crossed it as a team.

It's very hard to believe we were in John O' Groats only last Saturday - the mileage completed is staggering and the sense of achievement equal to that.

Obviously the sign was manned this time, and we could have anything we wanted on it as we had paid - so we celebrated the charity we had all ridden for as it has become even more personal to each of us. Jim treated us to champaign by the sign and then to a great meal in the restaurant (thanks Jim). Speeches followed, then drinks, forfeits and food (and more drinks) We all had a chance to say something special.....and it was special.

There's a lot still to say and lots still to do. I'll update tomorrow on the way back home so please keep checking the updates, but for now we'll celebrate the moment and enjoy the night.
