ORGANISERS of a huge vintage fair claim it will be the first of its kind in Bolton.

Vintage lovers will flock to the Mercury Hotel in Manches- ter Road, Westhoughton, for the event next month.

It has been organised by Vic- toria Payton and her parents, Wayne and Cathleen Payton, who run Vibrant Vintage on Westhoughton Market.

The stall sells clothing and accessories from the 1920s to 1950s and was set up by Miss Payton earlier this year.

Her parents were drafted in to help out as the 28-year-old of Grundy Street, Westhoughton, is a qualified barrister who is currently completing her pupi- lage.

After the success of the stall and positive feedback from customers and traders, she decided to organise a vintage fair.

Mum Mrs Payton said: “Peo- ple have been saying to us we’d do all right on the fairs but there’s nothing like it in Bolton so we started organising our own. There are local people who are holding stalls and peo- ple from outside the area and we’re looking forward to it.

“We had a stall in Altrincham on Sunday and they loved it there, and next week I’m doing Salford University freshers’ week so we’re doing well, but we want to get the market going in Westhoughton too so we’ve got to keep a balance.”

The vintage fair is on Sunday, October 9, and will feature men and women’s vintage clothing, retro sweets, cup cakes, jew- ellery and vintage hairstyling.

Is it thought to be the only event of its kind in the Bolton area, with the nearest being in South Manchester, Blackpool and Preston. The Manchester vintage fashion and textiles fair in Fallowfield claims to be the biggest vintage fair in the UK.

The Payton family has also been contacted by Leigh Her- itage Centre and invited to hold a vintage event on the town hall square.
