POLICE attending a car accident went to the aid of a motorcyclist, who was injured when he came off his bike in Deane.

Officers had been called to Deane Road to deal with an incident at around 8.45pm on Wednesday.

A blue Vauxhall Astra had collided with a white van and the owners of the two vehicles had got into a scuffle.

It is understood one of the drivers was refusing to hand over their car details and a row broke out.

Officers dealt with the incident but were then alerted to a 24-year-old man who was lying in the road near to the junction with Cannon Street.

The man had come off his Yamaha motorbike at around 9pm. Police called an ambulance as the man was complaining of a sore ankle and he was being looked after by officers at the scene.

He was later taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital with a suspected fracture but his injuries were not thought to be serious.

Police remained on the scene until shortly after 10pm when the paramedics arrived.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: “At 9pm officers found a 24-year-old man had come off his bike.

“Previously to this there had been a separate incident where two vehicles had collided and an argument broke out between the two parties.”
