MINISTERS are being urged to scrap plans to change voter registration by Bolton West MP, Julie Hilling.
The Government has recently announced proposals to introduce Individual Voter Registration (IVR) rather than the current method of household registration.
It would also mean there would be an end to the legal requirement for people to provide their Electoral Registration Officer with information.
Several constituents have contacted the Bolton West MP fearing these plans would lead to millions of people falling off the register Ms Hilling said: “These proposals risk disenfranchising the very people who have the greatest need for parliamentary representation.”
