TELEVISION star Vernon Kay has achieved a lifelong ambition by signing for Bolton Wanderers — as a trustee of the club’s charity wing.

Vernon joins club chairman Phil Gartside and Bolton Council chief executive Sean Harriss on the board of Bolton Wanderers Community Trust.

The Whites fan said: “It is a huge honour for me to join Bolton Wanderers Community Trust as a trustee.

“The programmes they deliver in the local community really do make a difference to the lives of the residents of Bolton and I am looking forward to helping them move forward and achieve their goals.”

Also on the board are Amir Khan’s manager Asif Vali and Dave Singleton, chairman of the Leisure Trust.

Bolton Wanderers’ finance director Paula Mulligan, human resources director Margaret O’Brien and communications director Mark Alderton, make up the rest of the board.

Wanderers chairman Mr Gartside said: “The club has always been active in and around Bolton and the surrounding areas and the trust has an important role in delivering that work and support.”

Community Trust manager Ian Laithwaite added: “Bolton Wanderers Community Trust is dedicated to providing a professional, quality range of experiences to the people of Bolton and the wider community, and we are looking forward to working with the trustees and having their support and input.

“As the only key local charity that enjoys the on-going support and affiliation with BWFC we are dedicated to improving people’s lives.

“With the guidance of our committed Trustees and the support of the club, its fans and the community we are confident that the charity can go from strength to strength to benefit the people of Bolton
