A BURGLAR used his victim’s phone to call a taxi—so it could take him to a cash point where he took out his victim’s money with a stolen card.
Andrew Kenyon, aged 40, of no fixed abode, was yesterday jailed for four-and-a-half years after being found guilty of burglary.
Manchester Crown Court heard how Kenyon entered the house in Buckley Lane, Farnworth, in the early hours of Sunday, January 30 , opening drawers and searching rooms as the victim slept in his bedroom.
Kenyon walked upstairs and into the bedroom, stealing the man’s wallet, credit cards, cash, jewellery and mobile phone before he left. Later that morning, Kenyon used the victim’s phone to call a taxi and take him to an ATM, where he withdrew the victim’s money.
Det Con Steve Riddle, from Bolton CID, said: “Thankfully, he reported the burglary straightaway to police, which assisted in an effective investigation, resulting in Kenyon being quickly arrested.”
