OF course Bolton's central train station needs major work - it's like stepping back into Victorian times and gives a very poor impression to visitors.
But then the rail system itself is unacceptable, with minimal numbers of carriages leading to packed, cramped trains at rush-hour.
As there is continued residential development across the borough, the roads become more and more clogged and bus services do not provide good enough alternatives, there is real urgency about providing a much-upgraded commuter rail service including a modern central station.
