THE amount of dog dirt on streets in Atherton has been halved thanks to a high profile campaign to inform dog owners about the dangers.

Since the scheme was launched by The Atherton Township Forum six months ago, the number of cases of dog fouling has fallen by 52 per cent.

The aim of the plan was to encourage residents to clean up after their dogs.

As well as seeing massive reductions in incidents, a residents' surveys showed that 93 per cent of people are now aware it is illegal not to clean up after their dog.
