SCHOOL friends Danny Jones and Alex Wright will be reunited this weekend when they both step on stage at the MEN Arena.

McFly singer and guitarist Danny, from Bromley Cross invited Alex's band We See Foxes to support them on Saturday for the second of McFly's sell-out gigs. The first is tomorrow night.

McFly have built up a huge fan base and during their national tour of arena stadiums, which sold out months in advance, they will play to hundreds of thousands of fans.

McFly have had five number ones and a total of nine top 10 hits.

Indie rockers We See Foxes are well known in their home base of Liverpool where they were voted best unsigned band by BBC Radio Merseyside.

It will be the first time We See Foxes have played at the MEN Arena, which can hold up to 18,000 fans.

Alex, aged 20, of Darcy Lever, has just started the final year of his degree course in music at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA).

He is the drummer in We See Foxes, which he joined two years ago, and also writes some of the band's songs.

He said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for us and it will be great to support my best mate Danny.

"All the band are nervous because although we've played lots of gigs in Liverpool, Manchester and London in the past two years, this will be the biggest venue by far.

"But it will be great to play in front of thousands of people and to meet Danny and the boys in McFly again."

Last week, We See Foxes supported top 1980s band China Crisis in a charity gig at LIPA.

Alex and Danny became best friends when they attended Thorneligh Salesian College in Bolton.

Both then left to start a two-year course in music and production technology at Bury College.

But part-way through the course, Danny auditioned for McFly and joined as singer/songwriter while Alex continued his studies.

As Danny hit chart success with McFly and became a pin-up for thousands of young girls, Alex joined Liverpool band We See Foxes soon after he started university two years ago.
