A DRIVER was injured in a three-car collision after he was pulled over by police to take a breath test.

The 36-year-old man was sitting in the back of the police car when it was hit by a Renault Clio on Snydale Way, Bolton, near the A58 junction with the M61.

The police car, a Ford Fiesta, was then shunted into the Ford Escort of the driver who had been pulled over.

He suffered bruising to his shin and chest.

The driver of the Renault, a 53-year-old man from Leigh, suffered grazes to his hand. His passenger suffered an injured chest and leg. All three were treated by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

The Renault driver was later arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of excess alcohol.
