TRADING Standards chiefs are urging people to take care when answering the door to callers.
They have joined forces with Greater Manchester Police and the Electoral Registration Office to hammer the security message home as electoral officials prepare to visit homes.
Residents received a form in September asking them to confirm their details for the electoral register.
Those who did not complete and return the form will soon be getting a reminder.
Those who still do not return the form may get a visit from a genuine inspector later this month.
They will carry a letter of authorisation which they will show to any occupier and they will not ask to come into the home for any reason.
