BOLTON’S Jason Kenny has been picked sensationally ahead of defending Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy for the individual sprint in the London olympcs, British Cycling have confirmed.

British Cycling performance director Dave Brailsford had elected to leave the decision on who will contest the sprint as late as possible, but 24-year-old Kenny has been given the nod after he finished in second place ahead of Hoy, aged 36, at the World Championships in Melbourne earlier this year.

Scot Hoy took gold at the Beijing Olympcs four years ago, beating Kenny into second place, after both men featured in the Great Britain team which won the team sprint gold.
