BOLTON has been named as one of the cheapest places in the country for students to live.
The figures, which have been published by website accommodationforstudents.com show it costs, on average, just £54.75 per week for student accommodation in Bolton.
Only Pontypridd, Stockton, Stoke-on-Trent, Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton and Belfast offer cheaper places to rent for students.
The most expensive places for students to live were London, at £107.29 a week for rent — almost double Bolton, Guildford, Exeter and Cambridge.
Next month the new £4 million revamp of The Pack Horse in Bolton town centre will open as state-of-the student accommodation.
It will be a 104-bedroom luxury halls of residence and each room will have its own plasma television and 65 of the rooms will have their own “kitchenette”.
The other 35 rooms will have shared kitchen facilities.
There will also be laundry facilities, an academic centre allowing students to study, a gym, and free WiFi internet.
Students will pay £80, £85 or £98 per week depending on the type of room they choose.
