A POPULAR café joined forces with a volunteer group to help feed the homeless.
Leon Boardman, who runs Lenny’s Café, in Little Lever, and Gareth Bradbury, of Bolton Community Kitchen, were in Bolton town centre with hot food and drinks and packed lunches for some of the town’s most vulnerable people.
Mr Boardman recently helped at the kitchen, based at the Salvation Army in George’s Road, and came up with the plan with Mr Bradbury.
He said: “I just thought if I ever got the opportunity to give something back I would do it.
“Ive been at the cafe for eight weeks and with it coming up for Christmas I wanted to do something in regards to helping feed them.
“There’s a growing problem of homeless people in Bolton, there seem to be more and more and I said if I was in the position to give something back, I would.”
Mr Boardman originally intended to open his cafe to the homeless, but decided the town centre was the best location.
“I thought it would be a better idea for us to come to them and come into the town.”
Volunteers joined the pair to distribute 35 hot sandwiches, 20 packed lunches and beverages.
