AN eight-year-old girl has been named the winner of a Christmas card competition held by delivery company Whistl.

Magdalena Lic, from Heathfield Primary School in Middle Hulton, was awarded the top prize after she and her classmates were challenged by Whistl to design the company's annual Christmas card.

The youngster's design will now be delivered to hundreds of Whistl's customers throughout the country.

Magdalena said: "I am really happy to win the competition and it was fun to only use orange to draw my picture."

The competition, judged by the company's head office, was also in celebration of Whistl opening up its new distribution 'super depot' to Logistics North earlier this year.

Anyone at the school aged from five to 11 could enter their designs.

The company presented a prize to Magdalena and to the runners up at a school assembly and also made a donation to the school to help fund the annual pantomime.

Louise O’Neil, business partner at Whist, attended the assembly and praised the work of the primary school children.

She said: "We were delighted to work with the local school near our Bolton Super Depot to design our customer Christmas card.

"The judging process was very tough, and we are really pleased with Magdalena’s winning entry."

Ms Linden, headteacher of Heathfield Primary School, said: "It is wonderful that our children had the opportunity to enter this competition and we are really proud that Magdalena’s winning design will be seen by many hundreds of people across the UK."
