READERS could be forgiven for feeling a sense of deja vu while looking at these old railway pictures.
While many things look different, there are some suspiciously familiar scenes, including inadequate capacity.
The picture of a cramped two-car sprinter unit at rush-hour in 1990 could have been taken yesterday. Likewise the image showing bridge repairs at Moses Gate in 1969.
Elsewhere, we see the old station building at Farnworth before demolition, as well as the station’s former incarnation as ‘Farnworth and Halshaw Moor’.
We’ve also included a snap of everyone’s favourite train: A Pacer!
