HAIRDRESSER Jignesh Madhavji is proving he is a cut above the rest by teaching celebrities the art of hairdressing for a BBC TV show.

Jignesh, a hairdressing student at Bolton Community College, takes clipper hairdressing far beyond simple tramlines — he specialises in creating intricate shaved designs on his clients’ heads.

His works include pictures, words and even fully-developed landscape scenes.

Now Jignesh, of Derby Street, Daubhill, has been given a chance to showcase his talents on Celebrity Scissorhands, a BBC3 celebrity challenge show.

The show features a host of celebrities who must learn how to cut hair before being unleashed on volunteers.

The clients then pay what they think the haircut is worth and the money goes straight to the BBC’s Children in Need appeal Jignesh travelled to Camden, London, to film the show on Sunday, where he taught the celebs how to handle the clippers.

This year’s show includes former EastEnders actress Shana Swash, Lucinda Ledgerwood from The Apprentice, Stedman Pearson from 80s pop group Five Star, The Real Hustle star Jessica-Jane Clement, ex-Mis-Teeq star Sabrina Washington, BBC Switch presenter Jeff Leach, soul singer Kym Mazelle, Scott Robinson from boy band Five, and former Grange Hill actors Lee MacDonald and Chris Perry-Metcalf.

Jignesh showed the stars how to shave in a sunset scene pattern, with a house and palm trees.

The 23-year-old started creating his unique designs while studying for his hairdressing course.

Jignesh, while still studying, is a fully-qualified barber and works at Chet’s Barber’s in Deane Road as well as at HQ Professional in Bury.

The programme is shown every day this week at various times.
