A BUSY road was closed following a two-car smash this afternoon.
Police closed off Darwen Road at its junction with Higher Ridings to Hospital Road, Bromley Cross, following the crash involving a Renault Clio and Hyundai Getz.
Emergency vehicles were called just before 1pm and the North West Air Ambulance also attended.
A police spokesman said no one in the vehicles was thought to be seriously injured. A spokesman for North West Ambulance said one person was taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Stuart Martindale, a local resident who is also a deputy manager at City Airport, Barton, said: “I had a day off and was surprised to see the Air Ambulance circling.
“It landed in the grounds of St John’s RC Primary School, Bromley Cross and the grounds were evacuated.”
