A BOLTON builder who converted a garage for a young disabled girl is appealing for your vote to win a top tradesman competition.

Tim Taylor, aged 43, of T.I.M Building and Maintenance Ltd, was nominated for a MyBuilder award by Bury father Ben Ryan, after Mr Taylor converted his a garage into an accessible bedroom for Layla, his 10-year-old wheelchair-using daughter.

Mr Taylor is now in the running to win £2,500 and the MyBuilder Job of the Year Award.

Mr Ryan said: "Tim and his team did a fantastic job converting our garage into a downstairs bedroom and bathroom for my daughter, who is disabled and a wheelchair user.

"As soon as we met Tim we knew we wanted him to do the work for us, he was polite and professional at all times and talked in detail about our requirements.

"They used their skill and experience to challenge my thinking, meaning that the finished product was well beyond our expectations and works for my disabled daughter in ways we never would have imagined.

"Tim’s team were a joy to have in the house, each of them friendly with us and the children — taking time in particular to talk to the children and get to know our family.

"The icing on the cake for us was that after the work was complete, they took the time to send a gift for my daughter to welcome her into her new bedroom — a personalised pillow in the same colour scheme as the bedroom decor."

Mr Ryan was so impressed by Mr Taylor's work that he has already asked for quotes for three more jobs in his house.

He said: "I wouldn’t think twice about using him again and recommending him and his team to all my friends and family."

Mr Taylor, said he was honoured by the nomination, adding: "It would be massive for us to get this little bit of recognition. We are a very small firm and it would be a huge boost for the lads and for the firm to help us with business.

"The job was just a normal job for us, and we try and do a little touch here and there and do some extras, because it's good to go the extra mile.

"Sometimes that takes a little bit more time, money and energy, but that makes the customer super happy."
