THE festive season will officially arrive in Horwich when the Christmas lights are switched on next month.

Cllr Steve Rock, town mayor, has invited residents to join him, members of the town council and neighbouring mayors for the lighting of the civic Christmas tree and displays.

They will be turned on at 6pm on Friday, December 1 at the roundabout opposite The Crown Hotel.

The event will be followed by a short carol service led by Father Richard Howard and accompanied by the Horwich RMI Brass Band and Horwich Community Choir.

Special pantomime guests will be Joe Maw and Holly-Robyn Harrison from Aladdin And The Princess.

And Father Christmas and the Rotary Club sleigh will be making an appearance as well as members of Horwich Carnival.

There will be temporary traffic diversions in place at the roundabout by The Crown.
