A BOLTON singer on his way to the big time is to perform live for a home town audience.

Alex James Brierley, a 20-year-old from Horwich, has been working with Steve Levine in the world famous Abbey Road Studios on Listen, his first track due for release on January 26.

But he will also appear in Victoria Square at the Winter Festival tomorrow from 10am.

Manager Mick Watson said: “He has been singing since he was 10-years-old and and playing the piano since he was six. He can play every musical instrument you put in front of him, be it cello, piano, guitars, violin, viola.

“There have been quite a lot of people at the top of the game in the music industry saying really great things about him but he takes it all in his stride.

“He is just busy trying to do the best he can do.”

The former St Joseph’s RC School pupil has performed as part of bands and supported Scouting For Girls on their 2016 UK Tour, playing at The Macron Stadium on the hallowed turf of his beloved Bolton Wanderers in front of over three thousand fans.

BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris listeners will also be able to hear him on the show soon.

Most recently he joined Brit and Grammy Award winner Steve Levine – who has worked with the likes of Culture Club, The Beach Boys and The Honeyz – to master debut EP Listen.

Steve said: “I was immediately impressed with his rich vocal tone and the sheer quality of his songwriting and musicianship.

“I’m really pleased with the recording as it’s a great snapshot of Alex and the potential he has to appeal to a wider audience.”
