Morrisons has made the decision to rename its Victoria Sponge Cake in honour of the Queen ahead of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The supermarket has renamed the cake and it’s now called the Elizabeth Sponge.

Every Elizabeth Sponge is freshly prepared by hand in store at the Market Street Cake Shop.

Customers can expect the cake to be made of three layers of classic sponge with whipped cream and strawberry jam.

It’s topped with fresh strawberries and a dusting of icing sugar and we’re hungry just thinking about it.
