Coronation Street will not air during its usual three-day slots this week as ITV has confirmed a schedule change.

Fans of the soap will not be able to watch it on TV tonight (January 8) due to the football as an FA Cup match will replace it.

Wigan Athletic will play against Manchester United which kicks off at 8.15pm.

The summary on Radio Times reads: “Mark Pougatch presents all the action from the third-round tie at DW Stadium, where League One side Wigan aim to cause an upset.

“The Latics lifted this trophy in the 2012/13 season, and while a repeat seems unlikely, they will hope to cause problems for the 12-time cup-winners, who have endured an inconsistent campaign so far and have already been eliminated from the Carabao Cup and European football.

“With analysis from Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Roberto Martinez, and commentary by Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon.”

ITV viewers might be wondering when Monday's episode of Coronation Street will be broadcast instead, so let’s find out.

Is Coronation Street on tonight? See this week’s TV schedule

This is when you can tune in to watch Corrie on ITV1 this week:

  • Tuesday, January 9: 8-9pm
  • Wednesday, January 10: 8-9pm
  • Friday, January 12: 8-9pm

@itvcorrie confirmed the new schedule on X, formerly Twitter, saying: “Eh up! We have a slight schedule change this week everyone. See you tomorrow night at 8pm!”

Some Coronation Street fans reacted to the news claiming football is “ruining” soap schedules.

One person replied: “Yep, its that time of the month again, the FA Cup ruins our soap schedule. The easiest route is to either: a) put it on itv player like bbc do with EastEnders. b) Move it to ITV 2 or 3. Simples! Yet ITV never do that. They really should do what BBC are doing.”
