Sporting events being broadcast on ITV1 recently have forced Coronation Street’s usual schedule to be shaken up quite a lot.

But in the latest schedule change, it’s certainly not bad news for Corrie fans.

This is because there will be an extra episode of Weatherfield drama airing this week.

Let’s take a look at when you can expect to catch up with even more of the latest storylines hitting the cobbles.

Why is Coronation Street on tonight?

Loyal viewers will know the ITV soap doesn’t usually air on Tuesday nights, however the programme will be airing tonight (February 13) as an extra episode this week.

It could be making up for the episode that was removed from the ITV schedule on February 2 which was replaced by the first Six Nations game between France and Ireland.

Coronation Street will air from 8pm until 9pm on ITV1 this evening.

Others don’t agree with the hour-long episodes and are calling for the soap to revert to half-hour slots instead.

This tweet reads: “please go back half a hour episodes I hate hour long episodes u don't see eastenders Neighbours holyoaks home and away Emmerdale hour long.”

“#Corrie @itvcorrie @ITV please go back to half hour episodes pair it with #emmerdale weeknights, hour long ok but just for big storyline episodes, also if any displacement due to sport easier reschedule half hour not hour long eps,” agreed another.
