A lamp which was sold on TikTok Shop has being urgently recalled - as it poses a 'serious fire risk'.

An urgent recall has been issued for the gold candle warmer lamp as it does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. Safety Regulations 1994.

It was found that the aromatherapy lamp presents a serious fire risk because the plug doesn't meet the recommended dimensional requirements and therefore can't make a secure connection with the socket

That means that the plug could overheat and catch fire during use.

In light of this, the lamp has been recalled from end users by the fulfilment centre, TCS Virtual Shopping, and the online listing has been removed from TikTok shop.

The gold-coloured lamp is packaged in a white box, labelled as 'Aromatherapy lamp - The fragrance of faith'.

An Office for Product Safety & Standards spokesperson said: "The product presents a serious risk of fire because the plug doesn't meet the dimensional requirements of BS 1363 and can't make a secure connection with the socket.

"During use, this could cause the plug to overheat and catch fire.

"The product doesn't meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 or the Plugs and Sockets etc. (Safety) Regulations 1994.

"The product has been recalled from end users by the fulfilment centre, TCS Virtual Shopping.

"If you haven't been contacted directly by TCS Virtual Shopping regarding the recall, you should contact the seller you purchased from for redress.

"The listing has been removed by the online marketplace (TikTok)."

TikTok said the safety and trust of their customers is a top priority and they had removed the item from their shop last month, while a recall was issued to the customer who bought it.
