WE have taken a trip down memory lane to look at life in voluntary organisations and groups across East Lancashire.

These photographs should hit the right notes with some of our readers including members of the Blackburn Salvation Army in 1988 and also the Blackburn Home Organist Club in 1990.

Another fun shot from the community includes members from Marlborough Working Mens Club on Whalley Road in Accrington taking part in a charity football match between the Under-30s and Over-40s in aid of Accrington Victoria Hospital maternity unit in 1992

There was also lots of fundraising activities and one of them shows Roy Humphreys, the president of Valley Scooter Club in Rossendale presenting a cheque for £100 to Trevor Halsall of the RNIB at the Holden Arms in Haslingden in 1990.

Another photograph shows members of the Hyndburn Labour Party women’s group and supporters with their banner protesting at the visit of junior health minister Edwina Currie to Accrington Victoria Hospital in 1988.

Then we have a photo of community groups such as Citizens Advice and Samaritans promoting their activities at Cobden Court Blackburn in 1989.
