Police investigating incidents in which a man had been posing as a police officer have arrested and charged a 44-year-old.

On November 7, officers in Burnley appealed for witnesses in relation to a man who had been targeting elderly residents in the Rosegrove and Coal Clough area.

The man was claiming to be a police officer and managed to steal bank cards from two pensioners, one in their 70s and one in their 80s.

On Wednesday, police arrested and charged 44-year-old Leighton Worth with two burglaries and three counts of fraud.

He has been remanded in custody.
