PLANS have been submitted to turn a former bakery shop into a food and cocktail bar.
A change-of-use application has been issued to convert the former Waterfields store on Market Street in Atherton into a food and cocktail bar.
The applicants are Mr and Mrs Evans of The Boston Pub Company, based at The Lock Cocktail Bar on Twist Lane in Leigh.
A web design and access statement in the plans says: "The changes identified as part of this planning application would bring this dated vacant building up to modern standards with excellent aesthetic appearances to all elevations whilst maintaining a more fit-for-use purpose to the property."

The first floor windows at the front of the building would be replaced with Juliette style balcony openings "to give a modern twist to the development".
And the brick arches above the front first floor opening would stay in place.
New boundary walls with sound barrier features would be constructed in the enclosed yard as well.
A decision on the plans is set to be made on March 9.
