A FORMER community hub could be demolished and a petrol station built in its place.
A planning application has been submitted to demolish the Bacup Hub, once Rossendale’s former biggest entertainment venue, and replace it with the petrol station and a SPAR store.
The proposals for the Burnley Road site include six pumps and 10 car parking spaces.
The proposals also include two cycle stands which will accommodate four bikes.
A spokesman on behalf the applicant, James Hall & Co, within the planning application, said the petrol station would be 24 hours a day, with nighttime service available from a service hatch.
The store will be open between 6am and 11pm, seven days a week, including Sundays and bank holidays.
A Lancashire County Council highways spokesman said: “There is no consideration given to the accessibility of the site for pedestrians from the surrounding residential areas.”
The application will be considered by Rossendale Council later this year.
