TWO sisters have been bringing a smile to faces in Atherton after making more than 40 pictures and delivering them to elderly residents in isolation due to coronavirus.

In the past few weeks, more stringent lockdown measures have been brought in the UK, meaning that the country is in lockdown.

The elderly are particularly isolated.

After creating their own rainbow pictures for their home to spread joy, sisters, Olivia Selby, nine and Ava Selby, six decided it was time to also create pictures for others.

Their mum Danielle Selby, 33, said: “It started off because we did a rainbow for the window and we made a Facebook group called Safe Safe which now has 7,000 members.

“On the back of hearing others not having supplies to make their own pictures, Olivia decided to do enough for everyone in our road, Lovers Lane in Atherton.

“They both did them and delivered them and were made up the next day when so many people on our road have put them up in their windows.

“They made about 40 and they are currently making more.

“We have elderly stood at their windows waving to us with such happiness.

“The pair of them are absolutely made up, we went for our daily walk and saw them all up in the windows.

“I just think it’s so lovely that they are bringing the little community together.

“We shared the news in the Stay Safe group and they all praised them too.

“People from all over the world have continued to post their rainbow pictures and show their support for our frontline people.

“One lady from our street even posted in the group thanking the girls and it made their day.

“I’m really proud of them.”
