A MAN in his 20s was taken to hospital in a serious condition after he was stabbed in what is believed to be a targeted attack.

The stabbing took place on Wednesday afternoon (June 3) on Darlington Street, Tyldesley at around 4.45pm.

The man was taken to hospital with what were described by police as "serious but not life-threatening" injuries.

Officers say he is in a stable condition.

Two men, aged 29 and 35, have been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm in connection with the stabbing.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called shortly after 4.45pm on Wednesday, June 32020 to reports of a man in his 20s being stabbed on Darlington Street in the Tyldesley area.

"The man sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment – where he remains in a stable condition.

"Detectives believe the attack was targeted and there is no threat to the wider community.

"Two men – aged 35 and 29 – have been arrested on suspicion on wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.

"An investigation is underway.
