ONE resident at Brookdale Court has been keeping herself active during the lockdown.

While residents in sheltered housing have been missing their families and having time spent outside massively restricted, one 98-year-old resident has found her own way of staying busy.

Betty Ratcliffe, who has been at Brookdale Court for 25 years, took it into her own hands to walk a corridor 15 to 20 times a day every day since March.

Wigan Council said: "Life during lockdown has been tough for many and none more so than residents in our sheltered housing with only nurses and emergency repairs staff allowed in the building.

"Tenants have been missing their families especially and with time outside massively restricted, 98-year-old Betty who has been at Brookdale Court for 25 years has taken it into her own hands and kept mobile by walking this corridor 15 to 20 times every day since March.

"Big thank you to staff who have continued to pick up prescriptions, sing happy birthday and bring cake/presents on Mothers Day during the lockdown."
