A MAN has been charged with several offences following a police pursuit which saw a large machete seized after a car was abandoned.
A police helicopter was used during the chase of a suspect and police dog units as the pursuit took place both on land and in water.
A vehicle was abandoned in Pennington Flash Country Park after the pursuit by traffic officers.
Patrols then went across both land and water to detain the suspect who was then arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including possession of a large machete.
Police have confirmed a man has been charged with several offences in connection with the incident.
Benjamin Duffy, of no fixed address, has been charged with dangerous driving; failing to stop for police; driving with no insurance; driving with no licence, driving whilst disqualified and possession of a bladed article.
He was remanded to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning (June 23).
