A MOTORCYCLIST in his 20s was taken to hospital with "serious injuries" after a crash in Lowton.

The crash took place at around 1.30pm on Newton Road on Wednesday, June 24.

An air ambulance and paramedics were called to the scene.

Newton Road was closed between the East Lancs and Hesketh Meadow Lane as emergency services were in attendance.

 

A North West Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called yesterday at 1.33pm to a road traffic collision on Newton Road involving a cyclist and car.

"We sent a number of resources to scene including a rapid response vehicle, land ambulance, air ambulance, doctor and advanced paramedic.

"We treated a male patient in his 20s with serious injuries and he was taken to Salford Royal (Hope) Hospital by land ambulance."
