THE heartbroken family and friends of a "funny and kind" schoolboy who was found dead have launched a fundraising page to give him the send-off he deserves.

Fred Longworth High School pupil Jack Parker, aged 15, was found dead last Tuesday evening (July 28) leaving his mum Karen and all his family and friends devastated.

Police had issued an appeal on Tuesday last week after Jack had gone missing since the afternoon.

Officers later confirmed that they had found a body in the search for Jack.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Now a GoFundMe campaign has been launched to give Jack, described as a "popular and intelligent" boy, a perfect and fitting send-off.

Jack lived in Tyldesley and leaves behind mum Karen, dad Gary, stepdad Andy, sister Lucy, nine, grandparents and friends.

"He was so popular, I know it's a cliche and people say it all the time but he was a lovely kid," said Lindsay Hulse, mum of Jack's friend Joshua, who he knew since nursery.

"He was kind, funny and always the joker of the group and he was always there for everybody else. People have been saying he was always there for me and he was just a kind boy.

"He was like another son to me, Jack was just a lovely lad," added Lindsay.

Since the fundraising page was launched, thousands of pounds has already been raised as people have rallied to help Jack's family during this heartbreaking time.

"I want it to be a testament to Jack, he was so intelligent and was expected all 9s in his GCSEs," said Linsday.

"He was really clever and he was in all of the top sets and had so many friends.

With coronavirus limiting the numbers of people allowed at funerals, a balloon release has been arranged for this Friday (August 7) in memory of Jack.

Lindsay added: "On behalf of myself and on behalf of Karen his mum and his family I really appreciate everyone who has donated so far and if people can donate anything to give him the brilliant send-off he deserves."
