A SHOTGUN was fired at a BMW car in what police are calling a targeted attack.
Police in Accrington are appealing for information after the car was fired at with the weapon just after 11pm on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at shortly after 11pm to reports of gun shots on Avenue Parade in the town.
"Patrols attended and found a white BMW with damage consistent with a shotgun discharge."
Luckily no-one was injured in the shooting but an investigation is now underway and police are appealing for information.
Inspector Steve Rides, of Accrington Police, said: “While we believe this was a targeted incident we are treating it extremely seriously as it is only a matter of good fortune that no-one was seriously hurt.
"I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious or who has any information to get in touch."
