A MERCEDES driven by an uninsured driver has been seized by police in Chorley.

Officers had been patrolling the Coppull area as part of Operation Edge/Wayward, which aims to crack down on motoring offences, when they noticed the car in suspicious circumstances.

On investigating further they found that the 25-year-old woman driving the car was uninsured and officers then seized the car under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act.

A police spokesperson said: "A good ending to the month of February especially given that March sees the launch of Operation Seizure which is due to tackle Anti Social Drivers, off road scramblers and uninsured drivers."
