PEOPLE have been praised for helping an officer arrest two ‘aggressive’ men.
Police were called at about 9.35am on Wednesday to a report a vehicle had been broken into the day before on Manor Road, Clayton-le-Woods.
During this call, police were told that the suspects were near to Asda in Clayton Green.
A female officer attended and it was reported the men became aggressive and were resisting arrest, with several passers-by coming forward to help the officer.
Both men were arrested on suspicion of vehicle crime offences. Ch Insp Mark Baines said: “Every day our officers face challenging and threatening situations which put them in harm’s way.
“Our officer attempted to detain the men but when the situation escalated, several people, alert to what was happening, went to help her.
“I can only thank those people for their efforts which prevented a more serious incident. The officer suffered minor injuries.”
