One of the most famous and unforgettable operas of all time is coming to the grounds of a Lancashire hall.

In September, Astley Hall's walled garden in Chorley will host an outdoor performance of opera, La Boheme, by actors and singers from Outreach Opera.

Acting as the perfect introduction to opera, La Boheme follows a group of struggling friends, as they encounter the many highs and lows that life has to offer.

Rodolfo, a penniless poet and hopeless romantic, opens the door one fateful night, to an apologetic Mimi, who is looking for a light for her candle, and the pair instantly fall in love.

But, with the cruel reality of life and all it has to offer lurking just around the corner, their journey is a hard one.

A tale of friendship, warmth, love and heartbreak, this opera certainly packs a punch.

The event will take place in Astley Park's Walled Garden, with an extended interval during which guests are invited to bring along a picnic to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings on the lawn.

Established in 2015, Lancashire based company Outreach Opera continue their mission to make opera accessible to communities, where they can inspire their passion for opera, theatre, music, and art into all generations.

Seeking to bring opera to unusual locations, Outreach Opera adapts to the unique surroundings presented. Whether it be an outdoor theatre, or a town centre pavement.

Outreach Opera selects repertoire that seeks to engage and captivate unsuspecting audiences, from market stall dwellers to supermarket shoppers.

Tickets are now available online via Skiddle or you can purchase physical tickets from the Astley Hall Museum Shop.
