A WOMAN was freed from her vehicle following a crash outside a school involving two cars and an HGV.

The accident happened at about 5.30pm last night outside Northern Primary School, in Plantation View, Bacup.

Three fire crews were called to the scene and firefighters used cutting equipment to free the woman who was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with minor injuries.

A male driver was also treated for minor injuries and taken to Rochdale Infirmary. The driver of the HGV was unharmed.

Traffic was delayed at the scene while the people involved in the crash were freed and treated.

Police officers also blocked the scene to allow an accident investigation team to carry out their work. A bystander said the vehicle belonging to the female driver was extensively damaged.

She said: “There were car parts all over the road.”

A yellow HGV, a grey Toyota Aygo and black Ford Fiesta were involved in the crash on the stretch, just off Burnley Road.
