WORK has begun on the new clubhouse for Westhoughton Lions Rugby Club.
Construction has started on the new two-storey building at the playing fields at the end of Cunningham Road, known as The Den, where the club currently plays matches.
The idea came after it was decided the current facilities were not fit for purpose and staff said it would 'open more doors' for the club.
The house would include a main viewing club room area, kitchen, home and away changing rooms, showers, toilets, disabled facilities, an office, a first-aid room, a plant room and a referee’s room.
