NEIL Lennon has confirmed he is looking at ex-England international Emile Heskey with a view to signing him for Wanderers.

Although the Whites boss is offering no guarantees to his former Leicester City team-mate, he insists the 36-year-old striker does still have plenty to offer the club.

Lennon is now looking at organising some game time for the former Liverpool, Aston Villa and Wigan Athletic man to see if he has the same spark which prompted him to offer a short-term deal to Eidur Gudjohnsen.

“He’s been training with another club so he’s in decent shape but he does need games, whether we can give them to him is another matter,” he said.

“It’s the same situation as it was with Eidur. We’ll take him for 10 days to two weeks, have a look at him over that period, and see what he has still got to give us.

“I’ve known him for a long, long time and have tried to sign him on a couple of occasions, which seems to be the norm for me these days.

“But he’s still got lots of good attributes and we’re basically having a look.”
